I don’t always enjoy sewing very simple patterns like the Named Inari Dress, but the truth is, I really enjoy wearing them. As far as my goal of crafting a wearable warm weather wardrobe (alliteration!) that I feel great in, I know I should make more of these pieces. Example: my Kate top. Floating Kanerva blouse
And I’m back! Thank you for being patient during the long pause.
I moved just about 5 weeks ago, but have struggled to get back into the sewing room to create because it is simply the last priority! I had to unpack the kitchen, the downstairs, my bedroom, the girl’s bedrooms and of course get my office set up so I can get back to work. It is so selfish of me to put the rest of the family’s needs off because I want to get back behind the machine, isn’t it? I’m sure lots of mothers know what I’m talking about. Continue reading

Oh, the glamorous life of a pattern designer…you would think I would get to sew all day, right? WRONG! There is precious little sewing going on in my studio nowadays. The pattern designing is almost all done on the computer in Adobe Illustrator. And, as I’ve mentioned, I recently got a promotion at my IRL job and that means way more hours at the computer, too. Ugh. I’m trying hard to improve my posture so I don’t go hunchback peering at a computer screen all day for my job, then all night for my passion. Continue reading
